Sustainable Paris Hotels and Accommodation
Where you stay in Paris plays a huge role in reducing your environmental impact. While a quick Google search for “sustainable hotels in Paris” might give you some options, remember that self-catering accommodations or homestays can be just as eco-friendly—if not more so! Here are some great options:
Check out this list to discover the best eco-friendly places to stay in Paris.
- Hotel Opera Liege – Paris hotel saying no to zero-waste plastic

Key French Phrases and Words for Vegans in Paris
It can be very helpful to know a few key phrases in French to be able to ask if something is vegan or not. When in doubt, use Google Translate with downloaded language offline in case you forget! (Forgive any typos! French grammar was never my strong suit but at least I can analyze an ancient French poem).
- Je suis végétalienne. I am vegan. – The actual French word for vegan.
- Je suis vegan. I am vegan. – People will generally understand this!
- Lait Milk
- Oeufs Eggs
- Viande Meat
- Poisson Fish – Not to be confused with “boisson” which means “a drink” (If you’ve seen Passport to Paris you may know this!).
- Je ne mange pas la viande. I do not eat meat.
- Je ne mange pas la viande, le poisson, les oeufs, ou du lait. I don’t eat meat, fish, eggs, or milk.
- Est-ce qu’il y a du lait dans le ____ ? Is there milk in the ______?
Be sure to watch for the difference between végétalienne and
végétarienne (these are the feminine forms). It’s a very subtle difference when you listen, so don’t be afraid to ask for clarification!
