Kitchen 17
If you’re looking for vegan deep dish in Chicago, look no further!
Kitchen 17 near Uptown has got to be one of my favorite vegan restaurants ever. It’s a casual atmosphere with board games galore. The appetizers are massive and easily a filling meal between two. I highly recommend the spinach and artichoke dip, chili fries, and whatever you do, order the deep dish mac and cheese pizza.
We ordered 2 appetizers and 1 medium and 1 small deep dish pizza and we had so many leftovers to snack on after we got back from a night out. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough and I will definitely be going back when I’m in Chicago.
Location: 3132 N Broadway St, Chicago, IL 60657
Chicago Diner
Another phenomenal choice when in Chicago. While not completely vegan (completely vegetarian though), the Chicago Diner has a ton of great comfort food options and they have a great brunch selection. Try the milkshakes, they’re vegan!
Location:3411 N Halsted St, Chicago, IL 60657
Handlebar
Although we stopped by for lunch, this seems like a great place to head to for dinner and drinks. This vegetarian restaurant has plenty of vegan options. The lighting is incredibly dark and tables small, so it’s got a very cozy vibe and would be great for a date night. The food was good and the portions decent. I highly recommend the fried plantains and the vegan hot chocolate with marshmallows. I would love to go back in the evening for drinks, but it wouldn’t be my first choice for a casual lunch.
Note: All of the parking on the side streets is for residents only so you’ll need to be prepared to pay a few dollars for street parking.
Location: 2311 W North Ave, Chicago, IL 60647

Where to Stay in Chicago, IL
No matter where you stay, Chicago has incredible vegan restaurants and exciting things to do. However, if you want to be central where most of the tourist attractions and vegan restaurants are, try the Lincoln Park area.
We stay in the Majestic Hotel near the Wrigley Field stadium. It’s just up from Lincoln Park and wasn’t too expensive. The hotel has a lot of influence from Baseball being so close to Wrigley Field which gives it a lot of character over standard hotels. Plus the rooms are massive and there’s a decent sports bar just around the corner. Check the price here.
